Title: Good as a starting point

Review: I've been in construction for more than a decade and this book Indeed sum up everything so far I'm encountered in the field is an excellent starting point because it touches all the basic isues to take account for successfully address a proyect highly recommend to take the trade to a next level.

Title: I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering any type of construction project

Review: As someone who has spent the last 20 years involved in Real Estate, I found this book to be optimistic and down to Earth. The idea that the average public is ready to begin building homes again is a little premature, but is valid nonetheless. This theory is widespread, but is only coming to fruition on certain geographic areas, with better than average economic climates. Other than that, the book is written extremely well, and gives very good detail about the home building process. This book would be perfect for someone with little to no understanding of the marketplace, who was looking to get involved in investing, building or developing. The terminology used is easy to understand, yet informative. There are practical applications at work here as well, with the warnings about establishing your project baseline too early and the listing of the actual steps involved during the planning process. There isn’t a broker or project manager alive who doesn’t understand “PMBOK” but the average investor will not understand its immense relevance. I will not give that one away in this review. Read the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering any type of construction project, whether it be on their own home, or from the standpoint of an investor.

Title: At Times a Struggle

Review: This book was at times a struggle because of very poor grammar. At times I read whole paragraphs that made no sense, and because of the frequency of these errors started skipping sections. I almost stopped reading after the third chapter for this reason. I got the impression that the book was translated from another language, and subsequently NOT proof read. Also, attempts at writing in a discussion-like manner sometimes come across as pointless rambling.

That being said, I read through it anyway, because it does have lots of useful information scattered throughout for those just getting interested in project management. It touches on subjects that may not be discussed in the classroom, but that can make an otherwise good project very difficult. For example, it places responsibility on the project manager to resolve personal conflicts on the management team before they reach the point where they tangibly affect the project.

In summary, this book has excellent potential, but I wouldn't recommend it because of how frustrated I felt while reading it. If you're patient, then give it a try.

Review: A few good ideas but poorly written with lots of repetition. Often confusing jumping from one idea to another. Gives you the basic ideas for construction management of your home renovation or building your new home, but you will need to know lots more to manage a construction project.
This book has hundreds of good reviews but I suggest you click on the reviewers name to see the other products they reviewed. It might surprise you to see that most reviewed the same products - almost none connected to construction. Also most reviewers only give 5 star reviews with the occasional 4 star to all their products. How strange that you have reviewers that all like the same products (from books about puppy training, to diets to cooking) and that every purchase is worthy of 5 stars?
I have read a number of construction books and this one is certainly not worthy of the reviews it gets. I was fortunate that I downloaded this book when it was offered for free. I would have been upset if I had paid the full price for the paper version!

Title: Simply outstanding.

Review: I have been dealing with the construction and decoration of our new home the last few months, but although I have tried everything, nothing seemed to work as it should! Until I found this book... I was tired of wasting time doing construction and it never seem to work the way I planned, everything seems to take the twice the time. I was absolutely exhausted and unmotivated to continue. But here the author does a great job compiling the most important principles of construction project management using a clear, solid, engaging narrative style. Go ahead and grab a copy. It's totally worth it!

Title: Building your own house? Then you need this book!

Review: So glad we bought this book! My husband and I are currently in the process of building our own home and all of the details have been somewhat overwhelming to say the least. :) Obviously we're trying to save money anywhere we can by doing a lot of the manual labor ourselves.

This book has been a saving grace and is packed full of everything you need to know to build your own house--especially those pesky details that aren't so fun but you just have to do. Thanks for the great guide it has been a major help to us.

Review: A good book for general information about construction project management. I recommend it to all young civil engineers and anyone who is involved in construction industry. It's a really good start and also a good reminder.
